The alumina rotary kiln, as a key equipment for the Bayer process of producing alumina from aluminum hydroxide, directly determines the yield and quality of alumina.
According to different functions, the alumina rotary kiln can be divided into drying zone, preheating zone, decomposition zone, and firing zone, among which the "decomposition zone" and "firing zone" are the key areas for the formation of alumina. During the operation of the alumina rotary kiln, the raw material powder is fed into the kiln barrel from the feed pipe at the high end of the kiln tail. Due to the tilting and slow rotation of the kiln, the material undergoes a composite motion inside the kiln: rolling in the circumferential direction and moving axially from the high temperature end to the low temperature end. After the raw materials are decomposed and burned in the kiln, they are discharged from the bottom of the kiln and enter the cooler. Fuel is sprayed into the kiln head and burned inside the kiln. The heat generated by combustion heats the raw materials, causing them to calcine and mature. The hot air generated during the material exchange process enters the kiln system from the feed end at the kiln tail and is ultimately discharged into the atmosphere through the chimney.
