Petcoke is a by-product produced after crude oil distillation and extraction, mainly composed of carbon. It has high calorific value and high carbon content, and can be used as fuel, as well as in the production of electrodes, aluminum anodes, carbon materials, etc. Petcoke will adsorb moisture and incompletely removed light hydrocarbons during the production process. If the moisture and volatile content is too high, it will affect combustion efficiency, reduce production, and pollute environment. Drying petcoke can effectively remove moisture and volatile compounds, improve physical properties, improve purity and quality, thereby reducing production costs and increasing economic benefits.
Petcoke has a porous structure, is easy to bond and agglomerate, and has strong thermal sensitivity. If ordinary dryers are used for drying, problems such as material blockage, wall sticking, and overheating coking may occur during the drying process. Therefore, a dedicated petcoke dryer with anti bonding structure, precise temperature control, graded heating, and wear-resistant and anti-corrosion design must be used.
Process flow of petcoke dryer
The process of a petcoke dryer mainly includes several parts: material entry - material contact with hot air - water evaporation - tail gas dust removal - finished product discharge.
The main body of the petcoke dryer is a slightly inclined cylinder with a lifting plate inside. The crushed petcoke is transported by a conveyor and a roller feeding conveyor to a roller scraper for downstream drying. The scraper machine scrapes the material layer by layer and moves forward in a spiral shape. The material is continuously scraped and dispersed by a scraper. After passing through the inner, middle, and outer layers, the material exchanges heat with hot air. The moisture content of the material is reduced to below 3% and discharged by the screw conveyor. The exhaust gas generated by drying is purified by cyclone dust collectors and bag filters to remove sulfur dioxide and particulate matter before being discharged.
Advantages of petcoke drying machine
1. High thermal efficiency
The petcoke dryer adopts a combination of forward/reverse flow process. The material flows in the same or opposite direction as the high-temperature flue gas, which not only ensures extremely high evaporation intensity, but also lowers the outlet temperature, maximizing heat recovery.
2. Good quality of finished products
After drying, the water content and volatile matter content of petcoke decrease, the calorific value significantly increases, the physical density increases, and it burns more fully as a fuel, reducing pollutant emissions.
3. Environmental Protection
Adopting a new type of sealing device, effectively preventing dust overflow, supporting clean heat sources such as natural gas, steam, biomass, etc., and reducing pollution emissions.
The petcoke dryer plays an irreplaceable role in the production process of petcoke. By removing moisture and volatile substances from petcoke, the quality and market competitiveness of petcoke can be improved, while protecting the environment, improving production efficiency, and achieving sustainable development.
